The union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India issued an order to streamline and strength the Indian Official Statistical System. It reorganized and renamed National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) to National Statistical Office (NSO).

NSO has been instrumental in developing a strong database on various Socio-Economic parameters through its countrywide sample surveys, which have helped the Central as well as State Governments in development planning and policy formulations.

Shri  Altaf Hussain Haji (ISS) , Director National Statistical Office, Regional Office Srinagar informed all the stakeholders to make correspondence to Field Operations Division (FOD) which is now a subordinate office of National Statistical Office (NSO) under union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

The Director also requested the public in general and stake holders in particular to cooperate in collection of Data which for Development and Well-being of nation. The success of these surveys depends to a great extent on the quality of the response from public in providing correct information.
