At least five Afghan force members, including two commandos and three policemen, were killed in “friendly fire” airstrike by foreign forces in Uruzgan province on Thursday night, a local official confirmed.
The airstrike was carried out in Chinarto district in Uruzgan following clashes between Taliban and government forces, Chinarto district governor Faiz Mohammad said.
He said the clashes continued for three hours.
He said one Afghan commando and one police was killed in the clashes with Taliban militants and that Taliban also suffered casualties.
He said after the clashes ended, foreign forces mistakenly bombed Afghan forces and as a result two commandos and three policemen members were killed and five policemen were wounded.
